US OPEN: What’s The Racket?

Andy’s stringer, Roman Prokes, checks in with andyroddick.com for an exclusive behind the scenes look at all the racket at the US Open:

At the US Open Roman’s company RPNY Tennis was on site at Flushing Meadows. “This was very helpful since Andy was able to use our services even during the match,” Roman explains. “We have prepared 9 rackets for a match at three different tensions. Once he picked the right one for the match we would string couple more during the match.”

RPNY Tennis strung total of 86 rackets for Andy during the US Open. Tension varied from 62 to 65 lbs, for most of the matches he used 63 lbs. “Andy has also changed his specs few weeks ago. After Wimbledon I have talked to John about the need for a change. Balls are heavy, courts are slower so I felt that heavier racket with lower balance was something Andy should test. He did and liked it right away. He changed before Indi and did extremely well right away. Then he won Cinci and you know what happened at the Open!”
