On Friday night, number one seed, Andy Roddick was defeated in Memphis by Sweden’s Thomas Enqvist 7-6(8), 6-3.
Andy struggled with a stiff back against Enqvist who also played some outstanding tennis.
After the match Andy commented:
“This afternoon I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to play or not. Then I kept working on it, warmed up for a little bit and just tried as best I could.”
After the match Andy signed autographs for everyone and posed for photographs and promised to be back next year.
Andy’s next tournament will be in Scottsdale, Arizona, beginning on March 1.
