Babolat Success at Grand Central

As Andy staying in the area of Grand Central, he decided to walk to today’s event with his gang and showed up in a tennis outfit, sporting his Babolat All Court Roddick sneakers and his Roddick Pure Drive racquet for today’s festivities.

When Andy first arrived, he went up to the platform with the tennis channel for some pictures with Eric Babolat, the founder of the brand, and the City Park kids he had a hit with. Then he had an interview with Luke Jensen in front of a packed house in Vanderbilt Hall at 1pm. Following that, he did a few extra press pieces and then headed to the court. The court looked like a net-enclosed batting cage, but with a portable court, net, and back-drop of a cheering audience. Following a light hit with a few kids, Andy took pictures and did a segment for Extra! the TV show, hitting with their traveling reporter who is covering Andy’s sponsorship events this week. Sending some serves slamming into the opposing back-drop, the Extra! man opted for the “larger” aka- monstrously oversizes Babolat Roddick Pure Drive racquet to have a much larger chance at receiving the serve. Andy pulled a “pong serve” a did a light lob and it just plopped right over the net, what a sight.

At the Babolat event today prior to Andy was Robby Ginepri, Scoville Jenkins, Nadia Petrova, Chris Evert, and Rafael Nadal. The USTA also had stands on sight with a ping-pong table for the WTA’s players to have a hit with some fans, which would have been right up Andy’s alley if he had known. The afternoon was light, fun, and Andy made it quite an event as usual. With rain in town and the US Open on Monday, Andy headed back to the hotel to take the rest of the day off.

Stay tuned for more news and exciting US Open events with Andy in New York. Good luck, Andy!
