Andy Roddick and Bobby Reynolds defeated the number three doubles team Goldstein/Thomas in the second all-American finals showdown of the day, winning in two sets 6-4, 6-4.
The first and the second set were similar, with Team Roddick/Reynolds breaking Goldstein/Thomas at 5-4. The first time they claimed the lead, the second they claimed the title.
This is Andy’s fourth career doubles title, but the first with partner Bobby Reynolds. Andy is also the fourth player this year to be in both the singles’ and doubles’ finals in the same tournament.
Now the American Doubles RCA Champion team will be congratulated by the sponsor’s mascots Nipper and Chipper in the winner’s circle, no doubt greeted with a few wet kisses. Congratulations Andy and Bobby!
Stayed tuned for all LA this week at Andy’s second stop on the US Open Series Road Trip!
