Andy Roddick defeated the 2005 RCA Champion Robby Ginepri in straight sets 7-5, 6-3, now being one match away from claiming his third title in Indianapolis.
“Neither of us have a final this season, this is a match to look forward to,” Andy noted about the RCA rematch against Ginepri. “There are no secrets, we both want that final.” I guess that Andy wanted it a bit more, breaking Ginepri three times and serving 143mph aces.
Andy opened the match serving, and blazed two aces clocking at 140mph past Ginepri in the opening minutes. This set the tone for the rest of the match, though it took until the end of the set for Andy to break him. At 6-5, after losing a 30-0 lead earlier in the set to break Ginepri, Andy played some great tennis and hit two winners to claim the first set, 7-5.
In the second set, Andy broke Ginepri twice, fired his fastest and 8th ace of the match at 143mph, and earned his first semifinal “W” of the year with 21 winners at 6-3.
Up next, Andy will play with winner of the Blake/Malisse match as well as in the doubles finals tomorrow. Stay tuned for more Andy in the Indy finals. Go Andy!
