In America, July 4th is the day every year where we as a country celebrate the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. This document followed a movement to declare our independence from British rule, and was written by our third president, Thomas Jeffereson, in 1776, but became official in 1777. This day called is Independence Day, and we celebrate in many patriotic ways from sun-up to sun-down.
Cannons going off usually wake people far and near as preparation for parades begin. With fire engines, the town’s leaders, floats built by the businesses in the community, veterans, and bands of all ages make up the parade. Every single person decked in red, white, and blue from head-to-toe. As the parade ends, there may be a carnival with some rides, lots of barbequing, and tons of American flags everywhere. As the sun sets, the main events takes center stage, or in Andy’s case, center lake.
Fireworks are shot into the dark sky to give a once a year show, and this year Andy will be home lake-side to see it, his favorite place in the world. Though his early exit from Wimbledon means he’ll miss Week Two in London, he’ll get to see July 4th’s fireworks for the first time in years.
It’s a day of remembering, appreciating, and celebrating all that this country stands to defend every day. Happy 4th of July!
