On June 21st, Andy, James Blake, Mardy Fish, and Bob Bryan met up at SW Nineteen, a popular sports pub in Wimbledon Village, to catch the USA vs. Ghana game. Joined by several of their coaches, including Todd Martin, the crew took post in front of massive televisions to watch the disappointing loss. Team USA fell to Ghana 1-2, ending their 2006 World Cup hopes.
Even more frustrating, Italy had given the American’s the green light to qualify by taking out the Czech Republic 2-0.
In between watching World Cup games, Andy John and Doug Spreen took a shopping excursion this week to Wimbledon Village to expand their video game collection. The trio stocked up on a variety of sports related PlayStation games including EA Sports Madden 2005, EA Sports PGA Tour 2005, PS2 NBA 2K6 and PS2 Smack Down vs. Raw.
In addition to the World Cup fever, it appears Andy and Doug have joined the British craze of watching wrestling as well. Whether it’s through football, basketball, soccer, golf, or even wrestling, the boys are channeling their competitive spirit leading up to Wimbledon.
