October Fan Of The Month

Congratulations to five-year-old Brayden, who is AndyRoddick.com’s belated October Fan of the Month.

Brayden’s mom sent us the following entry:

“I would like to nominate my son, Brayden of Taylor, Texas as fan of the month. As a parent you hope your child chooses a positive role model to follow and I am so proud Brayden has chosen a person with the integrity and determination that Andy possesses.

This past August when Brayden turned five, he decided he wanted his party theme to be Andy Roddick and tennis. So we loaded up on the Andy gear (Lacoste shirt, shorts and cap, Babolat racket and racket bag) because he wanted to make sure he was decked out like his favorite tennis player from head to toe. The only thing we couldn’t get were the Babolat shoes because they didn’t come in a size small enough for him. He had his party at the local courts where everyone was able to grab a racket and hit a few balls.

Since we live so close to Austin, Brayden has been lucky enough to get to see Andy play in person at a charity event at the Frank Erwin Center although he was probably to little to remember. He really enjoys watching Andy when his matches are televised and usually runs to get a ball and his racket where he then uses our front door as a backboard and commences to act out the match play by play. He even received the Wii game Grand Slam Tennis as a present for his birthday and refuses to be any player except Andy.

As you can see from the picture, Brayden has had a racket in his hand since he was in diapers and really enjoys the game of tennis. I really hope he continues to enjoy playing and I know he will continue to cheer on Andy in every match he plays. Thank you Andy for your positive leadership and being a great ambassador to the sport by motiviating young and old to leave it all on the court.”
