Hello from London and today the temperature has definitely dropped. Play started an hour earlier today to make up for the rain on Tuesday; first up was Andy Murray followed by Andy Roddick.
Andy had practided for half an hour at 11.00am to warm up for his second round match, however I missed the start of his practice as I got squashed by Gael Monfils and his coach who were trying to sneak past the fans.
During Andy’s match it was absolutely freezing and it was a relief to go into the media centre afterwards to write my match report. I had been sat in seat 20, player box Number one again for Andy’s match. Shortly after I arrived in the media centre there was an announcement ‘Andy Roddick in the interview room now’, a mad scramble followed in which I forgot my camera. However if you thought the visor had gone…. think again. Andy entered the interview room (which incidentally has quotes from Rudyard Kipling’s poem ‘If’ on the walls), sporting a Lacoste visor. The interview room is just opposite the players’ lounge. Andy was very relaxed in the interview, joking with the press and sharing his excitement at being in England during the World Cup. After talking to the press, Andy then went off to do a television interview.I also attended Rafael Nadal’s press conference before leaving Queens for the day.
Random tidbits: Andy has been made a member of Queens Club…There are two ramps leading out of the press area, every time I have gone up them I have either tripped up or nearly turned my ankle in an attempt to go up gracefully. Celebrity spotting - Jonathan Ross (UK TV presenter) said Hello to me as he came into the players’ box during Andy’s match
