London Calling: June 13th

I arrived at Queens at 10.30am and I picked up my ticket and media pass…my seat was in player box 1 for the day. After cheering on some of the Brits I went to watch Andy practice; he had a light knock up at 1.00pm for half an hour. After watching several aces fly past him his practice partner offered his racquet to anyone in the crowd who thought that they could return Andy’s serve, (needless to say I didn’t take him up on the offer). Also practicing either side of Andy were Henman, Hewitt and Nadal, suffice to say there were as many people on the practice courts as centre court!

At 5-2 in the second set of Murray’s match the rain came down, I had spectacularly forgotten my cagoul and umbrella so consequently got very wet in the stampede to find shelter. During the rain delay several fans on centre court started off the Mexican wave, we have a great deal of time to practice this in the British summer!

Play was called off for the day at 6.30pm BST, after tossing up with AR.Com photographer,Ron Angle, as to who would stay for Wednesday’s OOP, he lost, I grabbed a pastry from the food laid out for the media and headed home.

Random thought - How hot and stuffy is the London Underground!!

Restaurant pick - ‘Texan Embassy’ between Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus

Over and out Lucy
