The lengthy clay court season is over, and the players’ preparations are just about complete. On Friday morning, in Paris, the French Open draw was made, and fans were treated to be able to watch it in realtime. Seeded number five, Andy has been placed at the top of the second half of the draw, and in the first round will face Spaniard, Alberto Martin.
Andy who has risen to the challenge of the dirt ball game this Spring is optimistic about his ankle recovery. Speaking in his AndyRoddick.com blog, Andy said, “My range of motion was better so that is encouraging for next week.”
Andy has a resounding 4-0 winning record over Alberto Martin, having got the better of the Spaniard on a variety of surfaces including clay.
In Andy’s quarter of the draw, there lie some dangerous players, including Hamburg finalist Radek Stepanek, and the in-form David Ferrer. A French Open favourite, Rafael Nadal lurks at the bottom of the draw.
The French Open will make history this weekend, as the tournament will start a day early, on Sunday 28th May.
