Andy Visits KIDS

Since its beginning six years ago, The Andy Roddick Foundation has grown at an impressive pace, reaching numerous children’s programs in South Florida and Texas. ARF’s success can be largely attributed to the genuine intentions of its namesake. Although ARF has earned media attention, and was named Outstanding Foundation by Association of Fundraising Professionals, Andy’s focus has always been on the children.

When his tournament travels brought him to South Florida for the Nasdaq-100 Open a few weeks ago, Andy took advantage of being close to the programs his foundation benefits. Along with close friend Scott Walkwitz and ARF staff, Andy spent hours playing with children at the Kids In Distress Shelter.

“The kids were so excited to see Andy and were quick to get him involved in game of twister,” Scott told Ar.com. “I think the kids had a clear advantage in the game of twister with their much smaller size, and the result backs that up. I opted for the less physical challenge of a game of checkers…..lets just say I think I need some practice,” Scott was very impressed with the strategic play of his very young opponents. “It was such a great experience; we can’t wait to visit again soon!”
