Andy has decided to double up at the 2006 Nasdaq-100 Open in Miami. He will partner fellow American, Robby Ginepri in the doubles main draw which gets underway tomorrow.
In the first round, the all American pairing will take on wildcards Guillermo Coria (ARG) and Luis Manrique (ECU). The four have never met before on a doubles court, but with three top class singles players in the mix they will be sure to draw in the crowds.
The new doubles rules have seen more top ranked singles players enter in events and in the Nasdaq-100 Open main draw Mark Philippoussis and Marat Safin have also struck up a surprise partnership.
This is not the first time that Andy has played doubles with his friend, Robby Ginepri. Last year at the Nasdaq-100 event they partnered each other and beat Hewitt/Philippoussis in the first round before falling to the high ranked pairing of Knowles/Nestor in the second round.
In singles action, Andy’s second round opponent will be determined later on today when Andrei Pavel takes on Alberto Martin. Stay tuned to AR.com for all the latest news from Miami. Go Andy!
