One Bagel Please, Mr. Roddick

After a difficult first set, Andy came back with style in the second set, as he
overcame the in form Argentine 7-6(5), 6-0.

Andy sent hearts a fluttering early on as he surrendered a break to go down 2-1.
Acasuso had no chance to consolidate his break though as Andy broke immediately
back to level the first set at 2-2. Neither player faced a single break point
for the remainder of the set. At 6-5, Andy produced a love service game,
putting pressure on the clay court specialist to serve to stay in the set.
Acasuso rose to the challenge and plunged the first set into a see-saw tie
break.

The players exchanged mini breaks early in the tie break before reaching a
deadlock at 5-5. Andy saw his opportunity and took the next crucial mini break
to set himself up for set point. No second chances: Andy took the tie break
7-5.

The second set was all about Andy. Known as a big server, Andy has not dished
out many bagels in his career, but we’re sure this one tasted sweet. It was
aces galore as Andy romped to a 5-0 lead. Having only surrendered seven points
in the whole set, Andy was in a merciless mood as he impressively served out to
love, to book himself a place in the third round. Andy will play the winner of
Karlovic and Verdasco, who are embroiled in a late night tussle in the desert.
