As you may have noticed, Andy was sporting a new pair of Babolat Team All Court tennis shoes at the Australian Open this year, along with a slightly different looking Babolat Pure Drive racquet. We recently spoke with Seth McKinley of Babolat and he gave us the low-down on what’s going on behind the scenes.
Babolat has been working with Andy to spice up their Pure Drive racquet, creating a winning combination for the power-hitting player who needs both control and versatility in their game. Andy has used a Babolat Pure Drive racquet for years, and is pleased to play with this new version. The new racquet is called the Pure Drive Roddick.
“Besides the cosmetics and Andy’s signature, there are also some technological changes. The Pure Drive Roddick is heavier (11 oz.), stiffer, and has a new cortex system in the throat. The cortex system filters out vibrations in the racquet, so you only feel the ones you need. It provides the ultimate feel,” noted McKinley.
Some very observant fans noticed the different pattern on the inside of Andy’s racquet right away, and started the buzz on the message boards to make sure everyone knew there was something stirring. As for Andy’s new shoes, they have the same grip, comfort, and unbeatable performance with new “Roddick colors”- black, charcoal gray, and yellow and sport a new name, The Team All Court Roddick. Now Andy’s fashionable Babolat and Lacoste ensemble is color coordinated from head to toe.
You can find these new rockin’-Roddick items at www.babolat.com. Check out Andy’s promotional pop-up on the first page and surf around to find out all of the specifics of his new gear. “Andy’s new shoe and racquet will arrive in stores beginning in March,” McKinley assured us. With spring just around the corner, Babolat’s new Andy Roddick gear will be the perfect way to up your game for the new season.
