A Holiday Miracle

Honey Revitz may not have a sleigh led by reindeer, or climb down chimneys in the night, but to the children at the Kids In Distress program, she is the Lady of the Year. “She is the most fantastic woman I have even known,” raves Mary Pat Rose, of Kids in Distress.

A few weeks back, Mary received a phone call from Honey Revitz who was interested in donating some holiday gifts. Honey explained that her children had all grown up, and her husband insisted she needed to do something with the holiday gifts that sat in their living room. The Revitz family is a treasured sponsor of the Andy Roddick Foundation and had learned about the Kids In Distress program through the foundation’s partnership. After speaking with Honey Revitz on December 2nd, Mary could only have imagined the miracle in the works.

After requesting the Kids In Distress wish list to match her gifts, Honey fulfilled the wish of every child on the program’s list (well over 85 children). Letting no detail go unnoticed, Honey bought the exact make and model, often top of the line, and even included the batteries and light bulbs required by several of the toys requested by the children. “I started getting phone calls nearly every day from Honey,” Mary laughed. “She would be at a toy store calling to check the list twice, you could hear her with an employee saying she would need ten of those… two of these,” Mary explained. Honey’s holiday spirit did not stop with the wish list.

She helped accessorize several of the housing shelters, buying pots and pans, DVD players, and digital cameras. In addition, Honey had the gifts delivered to the shelters right on time. “She is the most amazing, selfless woman,” Mary exclaims, “Thank God for Honey Revitz!”

Just as one might expect from a person so thoughtful, notoriety was not the motivation for her actions and Honey left Miami before AR.com could get in touch with her. It is people like Honey Revitz who whole heartedly embody the motto of the Andy Roddick Foundation; ‘Helping Children Today for Tomorrow.’ Honey’s gesture will surely impact all the children at Kids in Distress for years to come.

Happy Holidays to all, and too all a good life!
