James Blake grew up playing with John Mayer in Harlem, met Andy Roddick playing
tennis, and was introduced to Gavin Degraw when Andy met him on the Jay Leno Show. These four talented men have come together to put on a charity performance to raise money for the fight against cancer.
On Thursday, December 1st at 7pm in Norfolk, Virginia, Andy, James, John, and Gavin will be playing at the ODU’s Ted Constant Convocation Center in the third annual AnthemLIVE! by Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Andy and James will be playing an exhibition tennis match (best of three sets) followed by live performances by Grammy Award-winner John Mayer and chart topper Gavin DeGraw. This is an evening to change your schedule for!
“This is a more important match against Andy than if it was in the U.S. Open,” Blake said at a Nov. 10 press conference at the Ted Constant Center. “An event like this is really going to help others.” This a purpose near to Blake’s heart because his father died in July, 2004 at age 57 following a year-long struggle with the disease.
AnthemLIVE! is a night that benefits the fight against cancer and has thus far raised over $1.3 million. All proceeds will be donated to research programs at EVMS, Virginia Commonwealth University’s Massey Cancer Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Tickets range from $15 to $100 and courtside seats are available for $2,500. To get tickets, log on to http://www.constantcenter.com/ or call (888) 411-4TED or the Constant Center box office.
Go Andy, James, John, and Gavin!
