Amazing, magnificent, outstanding, one could run out of superlatives to describe this stellar performance by Andy in Paris tonight. Watched by his proud parents Andy demolished Dominik Hrbaty, himself a very good player who is likely to feature in this year’s Davis Cup Final. It took Andy less than one hour to complete a 6-1, 6-2 rout.
During the match he fired 16 aces past his opponent, who was increasingly mesmerized by the speed and power of Andy’s shots raining down on him.
Andy was playing in the zone where everything works and gave us his full repertoire of shots, including an incredible slam-dunk that Pete Sampras would have been proud of, in the opening set. His movement, usually the key to playing well, was excellent. He even played one incredible shot from almost the front row seats.
In the quarterfinals Andy will face Spaniard, David Ferrer (10) who defeated Tommy Hass to advance.
Well done Andy!
