This week, Andy will compete in his final tournament before the end of the year Masters Cup. He won’t have to travel far today to begin preparations for the BNP Paribas Masters. At last year’s event Safin defeated Radek Stepanek to claim his third Masters Series Shield, 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-3. As the top seed, Andy made it to the third round where he was upset by the towering Max Mirnyi 6-7 (2), 2-6.
The BNP Paribas Masters, the last masters event of the season, is played on indoor carpet and draws the tours biggest names. This year, however, injury and hectic schedules has plagued the Masters event, forcing recent withdrawals from Federer, Hewit, Agassi, and Safin.
Still a very strong event, Roddick shares his quarter of the draw with fellow seed Nalbandian, Ferrer and, Hrbaty. Once again awarded the number one seed, Andy received a bye in the first round. He will face the winner of Taylor Dent Vs. Sebastien Grosjean, both good friends of his.
Coming off the victory in Lyon, Andy will be looking to finish his already successful 2005 season with another French win.
