Andy Through To Lyon Final

Andy has beaten Fabrice Santoro 6-4, 7-6(5) to move into his seventh final of the year in Lyon. Andy had said before the match that he was expecting it to be an intriguing contest between two very different players and Santoro’s skill certainly made it a competitive match.

Andy broke the Frenchman very early on, at 1-1 in the first set. This break was all he needed to clinch the first set and he served it out at 5-4. However, the American who is aiming for his fifth title of the year, was pushed all the way in set two. There were no breaks of serve and the set was decided on a tie break. After each exchanging breaks Andy reached match point first at 6-5 with Santoro serving. Andy didn’t need a second chance though, he grabbed the match at the first opportunity to set up a final against French sensation, Gael Monfils.
