In the quarter finals of the Grand Prix de Tennis in Lyon, Andy will face Croatian, Mario Ancic. Ancic, who is seeded seventh this week, is in the same mould as the majority of Croatian tennis players - very tall and with a big serve.
However, having played and beaten Ancic three times before, Andy knows what to expect going into the match. “Mario will be serving and volleying a lot like Mahut did today but I think his returns will be better”. Most recently Roddick beat Ancic in the Davis Cup World Group first round this year in Carson , CA. Their two other encounters were on the grass of Wimbledon and Queen’s Club in 2004.
Between them Roddick and Ancic have already played four tie breaks this week and it would take a brave person to write off another one happening in today.
The pair will play on Center Court not before 8pm (CET). Go Andy!
