Andy Into Lyon Semis

In a little under an hour and a half, Andy secured a spot in tomorrow’s semifinals by defeating Mario Ancic 6-4, 6-4. In a smartly played match, Andy patiently waited for his opportunities while giving Mario little to work with.

The two held serve in the first until Andy broke Mario late, eventually taking the set 6-4. Carrying the momentum into the second, and determined to make it an early night, Andy broke again taking a 3-1 lead. A resilient Ancic battled to narrow the gap, but on his serve at 5-4, Andy squashed Mario’s hope, closing out the set and match 6-4, 6-4.

Andy will next face Frenchman Fabrice Santoro is Saturday’s Semifinals.
