Roddick blitzed 13 aces to take down French qualifier Nicolas Mahut 7-6 (5), 6-3 today. With no breaks in the first, Roddick put his recent experience of tie-breaks to good use, taking the set. Andy was confident about his level of play, commenting after the match, “I think today was a much higher quality match than my first match. I played well and I think I returned pretty well throughout the match to make him work for his service games. He volleyed well today too.”

On Friday, Andy will face Croatian Mario Ancic in the Quarterfinals. “I think against Mario tomorrow it will be a similar match as today. Mario will be serving and volleying a lot like Mahut did today but I think his returns will be better,” Andy said.
