Madrid is a commercial city, featuring several businesses, government offices and industrial sectors. Majority of its industry is located in the southern part of the city where there are many food, textile and metal factories. The city also has an architectural backdrop and is the home of the Spanish Royal family. Not to be lost among all this is Madrid’s ever-growing popularity of the nightlife. In fact, many youngsters are known to pull an all-nighter at different pubs and go straight to work the next morning.

Ar.com has put together its own list of recommendations for Madrid:

For food, culture and entertainment, definitely visit the Plaza de Mayor and taste the tapas! The Plaza de Mayor is originally designed, based on the old square of Arrabal. Juan de Villaneuva last remodeled it in 1853. At night, lanterns light it up and you can sit outside in the old square, enjoy the entertainment and eat great food! Madrid comes alive at night, so just walking there you will experience many street markets.

For some relaxation mixed with beauty, visit the Parque del Retiro, which was constructed in 1632 for use by the Royal family. One of its many attractions includes the Palacio de Cristal - Glass Palace.

Real Madrid is one of the best soccer teams in the world, and a trip around their stadium, The Bernabeu is well worth it. Or even try and score a ticket for one of their matches and see the talents of Beckham, Ronaldo and Zidane, to name just a few!

For an out of city experience, you are urged to head out to Toledo, which is a breathtakingly beautiful city. The architecture is evidence to the different religious influences in Toledo. A little train that chugs up and down the hill is definitely the best way to see the old bridge!

So enjoy the tennis but take time to experience the city and make great memories!
