Today, the International Tennis Federation announced the draws the Davis Cup World Group Semi Finals and the World Group play-offs. US Captain, Patrick McEnroe, had a difficult decision before him over the last two weeks, whether to play James Blake or Robby Ginepri. As the draw reveals, McEnroe opted for US Open quarter-finalist, James Blake.
James will open the weekend’s proceedings against Olivier Rochus. Play will start at 14.00 Central European time. Following the first rubber, Andy will take on Olivier’s brother, Christophe Rochus.
Saturday sees the doubles rubber take center stage. 2005 US Open Champions Bob and Mike Bryan will be on court, taking on the home team of Oliver Rochus and Kristof Vliegen. The French Open Champions, the Bryan twins will surely be a formidable force.
Reverse singles will take place on Sunday, with Andy Roddick pitched against Oliver Rochus, followed by James Blake versus Christophe Rochus.
The best of five tie will be played on indoor clay, a difficult surface for the American squad. Andy, who was honored at an official dinner on Wednesday night, by sponsor Getronics for his world record serve, acknowledged, “By no means are we underestimating the Belgian team. We’re going to have to play very well to win this tie.”
Good Luck Team USA!
