Andy’s Huskers

Labor Day weekend typically signals the end of summer. Kids start heading back to school, leaves are changing colors, and the ATP tour’s year end Masters Cup nears. But for Andy the onset of fall brings another certainty: College Football!

It pains me to write this article as my loyalties lie with a different team, but it would be a disservice to Andy fans worldwide not to mention his dedication to the University of Nebraska Corn Huskers. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Andy has been a life long fan, attending games when his hectic traveling schedule allows, promoting the Huskers in post match press conferences, and incorporating his team mascot into interior decorating. By now, it is no secret that Andy’s bathroom in his parents house is decked out in Corn Husker wallpaper.

This year the Huskers head into the season ranked outside of the top 25, but this will not stop Andy from following his favorite team. Hardly a fair weather fan family, the Roddick’s have cheered for the Huskers through both championship and losing seasons. This past weekend, Nebraska celebrated a season opener victory, defeating Maine, 25-7. We suspect that Coach Dean Goldfine and trainer Doug Spreen will have to brush up on their football statistics in order to keep up with Andy.
