A Twist, Nod, And A Roar

With the weekly coverage of the US Open Series tournaments on ESPN2 and The Tennis Channel, we are getting the chance to routinely watch Andy’s matches. Besides the obvious serve, there are some other on-court habits that Ar.com has found hard to ignore. Check these out next time you watch Andy play:

Twist and Shake - Andy’s blue “No Compromise” wrist band sees a lot of action on court. With a flick of the wrist, Andy constantly shakes the band during matches. It is actually harder than it looks, and oddly tiring. (Don’t laugh, but we had to try it to see for ourselves.)

How You Doing? - He certainly does not play with his hair to the extent of world Number One, Roger Federer, but Andy is a cap man. Tipping his Lacoste hat, almost nodding “hey what’s up” to his opponent, Andy always finds the perfect fit before points.

The Roddick Roar: You will be hard pressed to find any tennis promo or television montage without the ‘Roddick Roar’. Little explanation is needed for this one; you will know exactly what it is when you see it.

Did we miss anything? If you notice any other of Andy’s mannerisms, jump on the message boards and help us out. Make sure to check your local TV listings for USOS coverage on ESPN2 and The Tennis Channel.
