Coach Dean Goldfine speaks candidly on Andy’s summer, the unexpected loss in Montreal, and looks forward to Cincinnati:
“It’s been a solid summer so far. The grass court swing went about as well as Andy could have hoped. The loss to Roger in the Wimbledon final was disappointing but the way Andy came through some of his tough matches there was great. He was able to do some things that he hadn’t done in the past and came through with flying colors.
Indianapolis was a disappointing start to the summer hard court swing. It was a tournament that Andy could have won but, unfortunately, he didn’t have enough rest after Wimbledon and wasn’t ready mentally or physically to go all the way.
After a hard week of work both on and off the court in Austin, Andy arrived in Washington D.C. eager to play. He made it through a couple of tough matches and took home his 2nd Legg Mason title in 4 years. He had a great week of serving as he made over 70 percent of his first serves for the week and only lost his serve once during the tournament.
Montreal was a major disappointment but we’re in Cincinnati early to prepare for the ATP Championships that start on August 15th. I’m confidant that Andy will rebound from this week’s loss and have a great week here in Cincinnati.”
It is always great hearing from Coach Goldfine and getting an exclusive look at Andy on tour.
Go Andy!
