Andy will face Giovanni Lapentti tomorrow on stadium court, 3rd on after 4:00. As the first seed, Andy begins his tournament in the second round. Giovanni, younger brother of former top ten Nicolas Lapentti, defeated Nicolas Mahut 6-2, 6-3 in the first round earlier today.
This will be the first meeting for the two. Last week Giovanni lost in the second round of the qualifying at the Mercedes-Benz Cup to UCLA’s Zach Fleishman 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. This is Andy’s first match since his quarterfinal loss to Robby Ginepri at the RCA Championships in Indy. Both players are hungry for the ‘W’.
Although the two may not be familiar with each other on the court, they share a unique leisure activity. Both players visited the Playboy Mansion in the month of July. Andy recently hosted the ESPY party at the mansion, while Giovanni participated in Venice Magazine’s annual tour during the Mercedes-Benz Cup.
Good Luck Andy.
