Legg Mason Preview

This week Andy Returns to the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington D.C. In 2001, Andy defeated Sjeng Schalken to take the singles title. Last year Lleyton Hewitt was victorious at the William H.G Fitzgerald Tennis Center, but will not be here to defend his title as he is on his honeymoon following his wedding to Bec Cartwight.

The tournament kicks off with a Family Picnic on Sunday, July 30th at the Columbia Island Marina. The 48 draw includes Andy, Andre Agassi, Tim Henman, James Blake, Paradorn Srichaphan, Mardy Fish, Robby Ginepri, Sebastien Grosjean, and Greg Rusedski among others.

This is the twelfth year that Legg Mason, which is a Baltimore-based global asset management company, has sponsored this tournament. “We are proud to continue our sponsorship of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic,” says Raymond A. “Chip” Mason, chairman and CEO of Legg Mason, Inc. “This premier tournament brings world-class tennis to the region and helps to further the mission of the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation.”
