It took Andy a little under an hour and a half to dismiss Noam Okun 6-3, 6-3, placing him into the Quarterfinals of the RCA Championships. With this win, Andy is one step closer to becoming the first player in the tournament’s history to three-peat singles victory.
Andy next faces fellow American Robby Ginepri, who upset ninth seed Paradorn Srichaphan on Thursday 6-0, 6-4. Andy heads into the quarterfinals with a solid 6-0 record against Ginepri. This year, the two have played twice; on clay in Houston 7-6, 6-4, and on hard in Memphis 7-6, 7-6. Despite their history, Ginepri will not be discouraged by his losing record. Robby is a gutsy player who forces his opponents to earn each point, and Andy is ready to do just that.
The match is scheduled for third on Stadium, not before 4:30 PM (CST). Visit www.rcatennis.com to follow this all-American quarterfinal point by point with Real Time Scoring.
