Andy will be looking to reach his second consecutive final at Wimbledon when he takes on Swede, Thomas Johansson. Although Johansson is the oldest player still in the tournament, he also is the most obscure. Sidelined for all of 2003 by a serious knee injury, the 30-year-old Swede has revived his career and has been making an impressive rise in the INDESIT ATP Entry Rankings to No. 22 and is appearing in his third semifinal of the season (Rotterdam, Queen’s).
Andy has won both of his previous meetings against Johansson, who captured the fifth and sixth of his eight career titles on grass in Halle and Nottingham in 2001. However, Johansson’s 11-match grass court winning streak, at the time, came to an end when he met Andy in a second round clash at Wimbledon in four tight sets.
Andy and Johansson are scheduled to meet Friday on Centre Court following the Federer – Hewitt match beginning at 1:00 pm BST (8:00 am Eastern.) Live USA television coverage begins at 7:00 am Eastern on ESPN2. Consult the complete television schedule at the bottom of the Wimbledon page.
