Roddick Jumps Two Spots To No. 2 Seed For Wimbledon

For the first time since seeding began in 1968, just one American man placed in the top 16 for Wimbledon. Andy Roddick was seeded No. 2 on Wednesday. He could face No. 1 Roger Federer in a rematch of last year’s final.

While Federer’s seeding matched his ATP Tour standing, Roddick was pushed two spots higher than his ranking, ahead of 2002 Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt and French Open champion Rafael Nadal.

Andre Agassi, the 1992 Wimbledon champion and ranked sixth in the world, pulled out Tuesday because of an injury. His withdrawal means that the highest-seeded U.S. man after Roddick is No. 24 Taylor Dent.

Watch for the Wimbledon page beginning Friday evening where all information and photos of Andy at Wimbledon can be found.
