The speculation ended today as to just who would get the number two seeding at this year’s Championships. There has been much debate recently as to whether Andy Roddick, last year’s finalist, or Lleyton Hewitt the 2002 champion would receive it. The LTA has announced that Andy has been seeded second behind Roger Federer and that Hewitt will be seeded three. The obvious advantage to this seeding is that Andy cannot meet defending champion and grass court genius Roger Federer until the final, like last year.
The seedings were decided not only on the position in the entry system, but also took into account the player’s performances at Wimbledon and on grass in the last two years. Andy has won Stella Artois three times and been a semi finalist and a finalist at Wimbledon, a deserved second seed.
