The day before Andy starts his grass court campaign, he spent an hour knocking up with Swedish player, Thomas Johansson. The Stella Artois Championships enjoyed its first day of sunshine today and Andy, clad in all white, enjoyed a successful practice session.
At one o’clock the two players warmed up and then worked on their groundstrokes, volleys, serves, returns and finished the workout playing out some points. Under the watchful eye of trainer, Doug Spreen, Andy looked particularly impressive with his backhand returns and passing shots. Throughout the session Andy and Doug kept a close eye on the scoreboard to see who Andy will face tomorrow.
Andy will take to Centre Court second on, tomorrow, with play beginning at 1.00pm BST; 5:00am EST. He will face Australian Mark Philippoussis who made a successful return to action after a three-month absence by defeating Raemon Sluiter of the Netherlands in straight sets.
