Most of you know that Andy is a devoted University of Nebraska fan, but the demanding life of a pro has kept him from most college pastimes. However, this summer he joins thousands of Americans in a much anticipated post college tradition: The Euro-trip. Granted, Andy’s European vacation has some notable differences.
Getting a head start on most graduates, Andy embarked on a two month trip to Europe in early May, with an itinerary of Italy, Germany, France and London. Unlike his 22 year old counterparts, Andy will not be staying in hostels, and has some other sights on his must see tourist stops; Court Philippe Chartier and Queen’s Club to name a few. Instead of frat brothers, Andy travels with coach Dean Goldfine, and trainer Doug Spreen, but we are sure the three have some stories worth telling.
While Andy may not have the typical graduate Euro-trip, when it comes to packing the bare necessities, he is Mr. Joe College. AR.com caught up with Andy in between tournaments for an impromptu bag check. The must have items in Andy’s bag: his iPod, cell phone, and favorite pair of jeans.
A suspected thousands of songs, unlimited minutes and a few yards of denim is all the former US Open champ needs to survive across the pond. Throw on a Husker t-shirt, and Andy blends in effortlessly with the 20 something travelers. At least until he steps out on center court.
