Nicholas Massu upset Andy in the first round of the Master Series Hamburg today, 6-7, 6-4, 5-7.
After loosing the first set in an intense tiebreak, Roddick fought brilliantly to even the match, but found himself facing a tireless Massu in the third.
In the final set, Massu took an early lead, leaving Andy trailing 0-3. Despite being able to settle the set at 5 a piece, Andy couldn’t hold off the Chilean. Massu took the match, ending Andy’s Roland Garros warm up prematurely.
Andy heads into the 2nd Grand Slam of the season with a 7-2 record on clay, looking to improve on his second round French Open finish in 2004.
