Tms Rome Draw Released

The draw for next week’s Masters Series in Rome has been released. Andy will be the number one seed due to the withdrawals of both Federer and Hewitt. In the first round Andy has been drawn against Britain’s Greg Rusedski.

Andy, who was present at the draw, has played Rusedski five times before and has emerged triumphant on four of the occasions. Their last meeting was at this year’s Australian Open, which Andy won in four sets.

The two have never met on clay before, but with both players generally favouring a fast paced game, it should be an interesting encounter. Andy is coming off the back of a clay court win in Houston, and will be feeling confident about his assault on Europe.

At a press conference, Andy said, “I feel pretty comfortable on clay. I didn’t used to, but now I feel pretty comfortable moving. I don’t mind playing on any surface.”

Here on some facts on the British number two:

Birthdate: 9/6/1973
Birthplace: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Residence: London, England
Height: 6′4′’ (193 cm)
Weight: 200 lbs (90 kg)
Plays: Left-handed
Turned Pro: 1991
Previous Year’s Final INDESIT ATP Race Position: 48
Current INDESIT ATP Race Position: 79

Andy has been placed in a difficult section of the draw, with two renowned claycourters, Coria and Nalbandian both being in his quarter.
