A CHEMISE LACOSTE is pleased to announce that, following recent negotiations, LACOSTE has entered into a five-year partnership with Andy RODDICK. From May 1st, Andy RODDICK will become part of the LACOSTE Tennis Team, which includes some of the most promising players, such as Richard GASQUET or Tatiana GOLOVIN.

After great champions like Arthur ASHE, Tony TRABERT, Lewis HOAD or Ken ROSEWALL, Andy RODDICK, 22, will become one of the LACOSTE Ambassadors, both on and off the tennis court: “I’ve always thought LACOSTE was a fine company with a great tennis history and awesome clothes. I am absolutely thrilled to be associated with such an amazing company.”

ACOSTE was founded in 1933 by René LACOSTE, a tennis superstar of the 1920’s and multiple grand-slam and Davis Cup winner. He decided to begin manufacturing the perfect shirt for tennis. As he later recalled: “To beat the heat of American summers, I finally decided to have a shirt made just for me… The LACOSTE shirt!” This original polo shirt revolutionised men’s sportswear, replacing the long-sleeved, starched classic shirt on the court. More than 70 years later, René LACOSTE’s legacy is the “world of LACOSTE”: this global group, presided over by his son Bernard since 1963, consists of over 800 LACOSTE boutiques and 2000 corners displaying clothing and other products in more than 110 countries throughout the world.
